HOUSE PAINTING FAQs

Q:  Can I get an estimate over the phone?  We do not recommend getting an estimate over the phone.  It is best to get an in-person estimate to get a fair price for you and the painters.  There are many factors to consider when quoting a paint job such as accurate measurement, if there is any damage that needs to be repaired, how many coats will be required, etc.  Viewing the project will make sure no detail is overlooked.  It also gives you, the homeowner, a chance to ask questions and make sure you have a good rapport with the representative.

Q:  I may need an estimate after work or on the weekends.  Is that a problem? Not at all.  When you contact ColaTown Painting we will set up a time that suits your schedule.

Q:  How do I know how often to repaint?  For the exterior, if you notice fading, chipping, peeling or wood damage call before any major damage occurs.  That is usually every 5-10 years.  For the interior, if you notice fading, major smudges or marks you may want to repaint every 7-10 years.  If you just want to update your color scheme, call us when you are ready.

Q:  How soon should I call in advance in order to get my paint project done by the time I need?  You should call about 4 weeks before you expect the project to begin.  During the busy season (April through October) you should allow 6-8 weeks. Think about calling in February to beat the rush.  Likewise, during the peak season (May, June, July), the wait may be a little longer.  NOTE:  Any scheduled job may be delayed due to extreme weather conditions, rain and storms.  Interior may be pushed up (with the consent of the owner) if exterior jobs have to be delayed.

The time between the estimate and the actual start date is a great time to select just the color(s) you want.  Visit a Sherwin-Williams store, buy and try out paint samples, or go online for a virtual color consultation.  When the painting begins, you are ready!

Q: What do I need to do before the painters arrive?  For an exterior project, trim bushes away from any areas to be painted.  Try to make sure no areas are obstructed.  For an interior project, remove any pictures or wall hanging from the walls.  Remove any family treasures or breakable items.  If you are a pet owner, sweep or vacuum away any excess pet hair, especially from the baseboards. Follow the link for some tips on getting ready for the painters.

Q:  Besides the actual painting, what can I expect the painters to do?  We will repair any damages that are stated in the contract,. We will also move and cover any items that could be in the way.

Q:  Who does the clean up?  We will leave your home the way we found it!  No worries for you.  We will also do a final walk around the entire project to be sure you are fully satisfied.  That is always our goal!

Q:  Should I buy my paint ahead of time?  Unless you have a specific reason for wanting to buy the paint we use Sherwin-Williams products that suit your project.  However, we will use any brand paint the client prefers.  We will discuss this with you ahead of time and get the best price for the paint.

Q:  Why should I call ColaTown Painting?  Of course, you will probably want more than one estimate and they will vary somewhat from painter to painter.  However, for top-notch, reliable painting done the way you want it done you can count on ColaTown PaintingCheck out our reviews from clients just like you!
