Once you determine your style its time to think about paint colors. If you are going to redecorate remember that the walls are the backdrop for everything you do. Choose colors that match the mood you want to create for a room. There is a lot to the psychology of color and what your choices say about you. Be Kind to Your Wallet!
After you are done painting the fun work begins! Don’t empty your wallet buying all new. Rearrange and repurpose! Choose the pieces you love and look for new homes for them. Move your furniture around and look for a new and pleasing arrangement. Walk around your home and look for the pieces that fit with your chosen style and color palette. Refinish/paint furniture you already have. Look for vintage pieces at flea markets, estate sales, antique shops or your parents’ attic! Change curtains from room to room or use shades and blinds. Once you have done all your rearranging and repurposing, fill in with new items.
To Splurge or Not to Splurge?
If you are done painting, repurposing and rearranging – take a step back and see what is missing. Whether it is a big piece, like a sofa or a new light fixture don’t go cheap. Splurge on that one item and make sure it is quality and something you love. If you are going to splurge, make it memorable!
