Q and A With the Contractor – Britt Ellis

Q and A with the contractor

Running a painting business is hard work.  There is more behind the scenes than just buying paint and painting.  When you call a contractor to come to your home for an estimate you want to know more than the company name and how much it is going to cost.  You want to have confidence in WHO you are trusting your home to and making sure there is a rapport you can connect to.  That’s why you should meet the owner of locally owned and operated ColaTown Painting, Britt Ellis.  A graduate of Irmo High School and Charleston Southern University, Britt lives with his family in Lexington.  Here is what he has to say about the business of painting.

What is the mission of ColaTown Painting?

The mission of ColaTown Painting is to ensure that our clients are completely satisfied with our work.  After all, your home is your biggest, most valuable asset.  We can help you beautify and protect it with the proper high-quality paints and application.  We are here to provide honest, dependable to service here in our hometown and surrounding areas.

Q and A with the contractor

What is your experience and how did you decide to start a painting company?

From a young age I was interested in seeing how things worked and putting things together.  I just enjoyed working with my hands.  In 2010, I started working with a company rehabbing houses and learning skills like painting, tiling and carpentry.  After much thought I decided to specialize in painting.  It is really rewarding to see the difference a coat of paint can make on an interior or exterior.  Likewise, cleaning and staining decks, docks and fences can create a whole new look from drab to fab.

What are the most difficult challenges?

Weather often times plays a role in when we can begin and ultimately complete the work we are hired to do.  If the weather is too hot or too cold, or if rain, wind or other factors interfere with our ability to work on the project and complete it as originally expected – the decided upon dates may vary.  This, in turn, may push back other projects on the schedule.  We try our hardest to stay within our scheduled time frame, but we won’t compromise the integrity of our work.  We always do what’s best for the client and the outcome of the project.

What do you want clients (and potential clients) to know?

At ColaTown Painting, I spend time looking at the project and talking with the client to make sure expectations are communicated.  Having a house painted, whether interior or exterior, is a big investment, so I am happy to answer any questions, go over the estimate and make sure all the details are taken care of.

Clients should visit our website and check out our recommendations, gallery and our blog.  The blog has a lot of great entries to help clients with paint selection, decorating tips, and general information they will find helpful for all kinds of projects.  And, we don’t just paint houses!  We also stain/paint decks, docks, and fences.  We can also help you spruce up your garage and garage floor.

Give us a call if we can help!  803-603-6486 or e-mail ellisb@colatownpainting.comAll estimates are free with no obligations.  Trust you home to the best!
