Surprise… The best time to paint your home is any time! Any time of the year can have its advantages depending on your painting project. So many people have been hanging out at home since the Covid 19 outbreak. Like everyone else, maybe you have had more than enough time to sit around and assess what needs to be done on the interior of your home. Maybe the exterior of your home has faded with time or you are just looking to update with a change of color.
Adding a fresh coat of paint – whether you change colors or just refresh your current colors – adds curb appeal to your home and makes it stand out. Maybe you want to change the color of your interior walls to something cheerful and bright, for an uplifting look.
Painting is an instant face lift for the interior or exterior of your home. It is also an awesome way to reflect your personality. Added bonus – it is more cost effective than buying all new furniture or a new house! You will be surprised at the changes a refresh paint project makes.
Why is now the best time to paint your house?
Regardless of the season or time of year, there is always a painting project that can be checked off your list. Right now, if you are working from home or spending more time at home due to Covid 19, you have plenty of time to consult with your paint professional and make decisions you are comfortable with. This is the ideal time to plan and make a timeline for painting your home inside or out.
Fall and (some of) Winter
Exterior – The temperatures in fall and early winter create good conditions for painting exteriors when daytime temperatures are in the 60’s and 70’s and even 80’s. Your home and landscape will be ready for the holidays and you can sit back and enjoy! You can beat the rush and the cold weather by calling your painting professional now and scheduling a time. But don’t hesitate. Once temperatures go below 50 it is just too chilly to paint outside for an optimal outcome. You don’t want to be left out in the cold!
Interior – Once the cold weather sets in it is the perfect time to paint the interior of your home. Most people want to have their interior painting projects done before the holidays get here. With Thanksgiving at the end of November and Christmas and Hanukkah following in December, you don’t want to wait too late to schedule with your painters or you will be disappointed. Don’t despair if you can’t get on the schedule before the holidays. When you take down your decorations, but before you replace all your items is a great time to schedule. Painting in January, February and even March can provide a pick-me-up during the cold and dreary days of winter.
Spring and Summer
Exterior – Once spring arrives we are all anxious to get outside and enjoy the great weather. That’s one reason why we live in the sunny south! We are all more than ready to enjoy our outdoor spaces with friends and family. That is what makes this the perfect time for an exterior facelift for your home.
If you have a deck or dock you want them to be ready for entertaining. Take a walk around your house and begin to envision any color changes you want to make. Or you may just want to revive the old color, paint shutters and doors and make a few updated changes to your exterior fixtures to create super curb appeal. Painters are wrapping up winter painting projects and are ready to go for spring. By the end of spring it may be difficult to get on the painting schedule in your time frame, so don’t delay once you’ve made the decision to paint.
Interior – If you didn’t get around to your interior painting project in the winter, don’t fret! Although any time of the year is a good time for interior painting, the warmer weather has some advantages, too. What are the obvious perks? You can open the windows to allow for faster drying time and air out rooms. Natural sunlight at this time of year will allow you to see colors more vividly without relying on artificial lighting. Finally, warmer temperatures tend to influence the viscosity of paint. That means it will go on easier and with more consistent results.
